About Ifza Shakoor

Ifza Shakoor is a passionate advocate for equity, diversity and inclusion. She is currently a final year PhD candidate at the University of Derby, exploring how to diversify and promote inclusion in England’s career development sector.

Ifza’s research focuses on giving voice to overlooked groups, identifying barriers and enablers to greater representation, and developing strategies for change. Central to her work is the Intersectional Equity Framework (IEF), an innovative tool Ifza created by combining principles from critical theories on oppression, intersectionality, critical race and institutions.

In addition to her academic research, Ifza actively operates as a dedicated EDI consultant and associate. She has experience implementing her methodology in organisations including career guidance bodies, universities and charities. Ifza also serves as EDI Chair for the University of Derby Student Union and is a board member for YMCA Derbyshire.

Passionate about empowering professionals from all backgrounds, Ifza launched the #CareerInCareers series to showcase career journeys and increase visibility of the sector. She invites readers to get involved and share their own stories.

Ifza is excited to collaborate with others committed to positive change. On her blog, she shares resources, insights and updates on her research and consulting work aimed at fostering more diverse, equitable and inclusive work cultures where everyone can thrive.
